On our Big Bear retreats, we get to show off our cooking
skills and experiment on our customers! These are some of
our popular recipes:
Holiday Morning
French Toast
On Sunday mornings, we do a big brunch before everyone
goes home. This is a great recipe to make the night before.
Pumpkin Pancakes
This recipe takes a little more time than others,
but the pancakes are to die for. They are especially good
on those chilly autumn mornings.
Toasty Baked Oatmeal
Some of our ladies love warm oatmeal before a long day
of sewing.
Chicken Tortilla
Soup
We try to make Saturday lunch a fast meal to cook so we
can spend more time at our sewing machines!
BBQ in the Crock Pot
This is one of our most requested lunch recipes.
A couple of dinner favorites from Sue's kitchen:
Pasta with Sugar
Snap Peas, Asparagus, and Parmesan
Salmon with Arugula, Tomato, and Caper Sauce
Spicy Pumpkin
Bread
If you're tempted to fiddle with the spices (maybe substitute
pumpkin-pie spice for the allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and
cloves), think again. We tried it that way, but it wasn't
as good. There's just something special about this four-spice
combination.
Orange Streusel
Loaves
This recipe was given to us by one of our travelers, Mary
Kay O'Neill. It was a big hit at Big Bear one weekend.
We always have goodies on our bus trips and at the Temecula
retreats. Here are some of our favorites.
Double Gingersnaps
These are a favorite on bus trips.
Connie's Oatmeal
Cookies
Mary Wahlenmaier always brings these to Temecula and has
to hide a few because they are gone so quickly!
